Girl in the Bubble

Bubble Spring Collection Harper's Bazaar 1963
by Melvin Sokolsky

Last week I planned on attending an exhibition featuring pieces by Melving Sokolsky. The iconic fashion photographer sparked his career with the Bubble collection in a 1963 Harper's Bazaar issue. I was exposed to some of his Bubble collection photos before, which soon became one of my favorites. Unfortunately, my best friend and got lost on the way to the studio and later opted for tacos + margaritas--note to self: do not rely on MapQuest and a hungry stomach.
The glamorous & stylish woman floating in an oversized bubble is the capturing effect in these photos. The bubble showcases an untouchable and classy woman, swaying over cities and people in a whimsical manner. Check out his site

L.A. fashion weekend show at Sunset Gower Studios

It might be mid-October in L.A., but the weather might have fooled us otherwise. Last night I attended the fashion weekend swimwear show at Sunset Gower Studios, where I got to see Christina Milian perform and model. Her song, Dip it Low, brought back a lot of fond memories.

The swimwear show included collections from A.Che', teeki, and kooey.

What's interesting about the line teeki, is that the bikini fabrics are made of recycled water bottles, to be environmentally conscious. Kooey is an Australian line, and was recently sported by Miss Universe Australia, the second runner up, this past summer.  The show was filled with California-vibe, and lots of colorful & fun swimwear. Later, my friend and I went to the after-party at Crustacean in Beverly Hills to have appetizers & drinks. I hadn't been to this restaurant before, and loved it the second I walked in when I saw the underground aquarium leading through the restaurant. I have not been able to attend a lot of shows for LAFW thanks to other obligations, but it's been fun so far.

Beach Bunny Swwimwear Fashion Show

Lynne Curtis from the Real Housewives of OC
Lynn & Jayde

all photos by me.

It's rather appropriate to get Playboy Bunny, Jayde Nicole to host & model Beach Bunny Swimwear. The sexy venue took place at the LA hotspot, the Colony, & it was a full house of fashion savy girls, very-very happy & googly-eyed guys, & beach bunnies.  Emily from StilettoBeats & I had some good times admiring the swimwear, which had everything from lace, to metallic bandage styles. You might have passed by the Beach Bunny Swimwear boutique on Robertson blvd. along with the big campaign modeled by the Kardashian sisters. I was also able to meet Lynne, from the guilty-pleasure reality show, the Real Housewives of OC. We had a little chat about her Lynne Curtin Designs jewelry she provided for the fashion show, and was oh so sweet. I loved the cuffed bracelets the models were rocking, from her line. After the show, was the party, as Chanel from MTV's Fantasy Factory DJ-ed some awesome music.
